Is KitchenKit a calorie tracker?
KitchenKit uses approximate calories to help you plan meals for your household. Each person has a daily target, and planned meals give you an overview without logging every bite.
How does it work for different household sizes?
Save each recipe with ingredients for one person. Choose who is eating when you plan a meal, and KitchenKit scales the ingredients and calories for everyone selected.
How do the pantry and shopping list connect?
KitchenKit compares the ingredients in your meal plan with your pantry stock to build a list of what is missing. Mark a meal as cooked to deduct its ingredients from the pantry.
Does my data leave my home?
KitchenKit stores your household data on your server. Optional product lookups and supermarket suggestions use Open Food Facts. If you connect an assistant through MCP, it receives the kitchen data it requests.
Can I connect my AI assistant?
Yes. KitchenKit includes an authenticated MCP server for compatible clients. Once connected, your assistant can read recipes and pantry stock, create or update meal plans, and prepare shopping lists. Changes made through MCP appear in KitchenKit.
What do I need to run it?
A home server, NAS or small computer that runs Docker, plus a modern web browser. Create an administrator account on first launch, then set up your household.
